Parent Involvement
Read the Proposed Parent Involvement Policy - Oct. 3, 2003
Q: What are the law's implications for parent involvement?
Districts must develop jointly with parents a written parent involvement policy. In addition:
- Each Title I school must have at least one annual meeting with parents to explain the Title I program and their right to be involved.
- Schools, with the involvement of parents, must:
- Set out the respective responsibilities of the school staff, parents and students in raising student achievement.
- Explain how an effective home-school partnership will be developed.
- Provide materials to parents in an understandable format.
For more information on parent involvement in DPS see the Parent Guide .
